Recruiter Perspective : RPO Q&A

Q1 : What’s RPO

Recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) refers to the outsourcing of one or more links of the above process to external professional recruitment service agencies according to its own recruitment business characteristics and the number and ability of its own recruitment specialists.

Q2 : What value does RPO bring to enterprises (Party A)?

Recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) is a sub field of BPO, which has a history of several decades in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific region.

Usually when I interview RPO consultants, project managers and program sales candidates, I always feel that they can’t state the value of RPO very well, which is due to their lack of sufficient understanding of the core business process of enterprise recruitment.

From the perspective of outsourcing motivation, the value of choosing RPO is reflected in the following aspects:

  • Outsourcing recruitment information dissemination and candidate acquisition to professional companies can improve the efficiency of candidate acquisition;
  • Professional companies have rich experience in talent search, internal recommendation planning and social recommendation;
  • Professional recruitment companies generally have a certain number of talent databases;
  • Through the recruitment of consultants, Party A does not need too many full-time recruiters. For project recruitment, the remuneration and total cost of ownership can be optimized.

Q3 : What are the typical modes of RPO?

Recruitment Consultant dispatch

Generally, it is difficult for the company to set up a full-time recruitment team with sufficient scale in the short term, or the temporary recruitment demand is greatly increased. The company does not want to employ too many formal full-time employees, but hopes to dispatch them through professional recruitment companies.

The company will send part or all of the recruitment work to the dispatched consultant, and usually arrange the recruitment effect or pay N times of salary to Party B as expenses.

Sourcing Priority RPO Programme

Party A mainly hopes that Party B can provide more effective candidates. Usually, the candidates provided by Party B only need to “Browse”, participate in “interview” or pass the first round of interview and so on. Such services are generally paid for according to the number of “valid” candidates provided, or according to the process implemented by the candidates.

End to End Solution RPO

This kind of service refers to the whole or partial outsourcing of the company’s recruitment to third-party recruitment agencies.

Characteristics:

  • Send recruitment consultants to the employer’s company;
  • Responsible for almost the entire recruitment process;
  • Responsible for the development and utilization of all channel effectiveness, such as recruitment website, internal recommendation, self search, third-party headhunter, background consultant search, etc;
  • The relationship between the two sides is very close.
