What are your observations of hiring trends during the pandemic?
Danyang: In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused employers to make adjustments to how they hire and retain top talent. This allows recruiters to apply the necessary changes to planned recruiting strategies in correspondence with the following hiring trends:
Trend #1: Remote work
Employees have adjusted to working remotely as it brings more flexibility and safety during the pandemic. Not only the employees feel more comfortable and productive working remotely, but it also saves commute time and money on additional travel expenses. Therefore, expect the number of remote positions to increase, as employers continue to adapt to the new normal while ensuring the safety of their teams.
Trend #2: Virtual interviews
Since remote work has dramatically risen in popularity, employers have had to go remote with their interview strategy as well. This approach will likely continue in 2021, as companies continue allowing employees to work remotely.
Trend #3: Skills assessments
Technology has made it much easier to administer skills tests from anywhere, so an increasing number of employers are investing in this measure. For hiring and HR managers, this is a plus because skill assessments allow you to understand the depth of their abilities without seeing them in action.
Trend #4: Enhanced candidate experience
Adjustments like a transparent hiring timeline, increased communication, and better technology will help employers attract more qualified talent ensuring they are onboarded efficiently.
